It's incredibly heartening to see that the number of layoffs in the tech industry has been steadily reducing over the course of this year! I have seen friends and colleagues affected by these layoffs as well as trying to support clients having to reduce their headcount over an incredibly tough year, so it is very pleasing to see these figures reducing. Amidst challenges and uncertainties, the resilience and innovation of tech companies are shining through, leading to more stable employment opportunities for professionals. A comprehensive list of 2023 & 2024 tech layoffs, dated on February 21, 2024 ๐The tech-wide reckoning that began in 2022 and ran throughout into 2023 has continued into this year. And while 2024โs losses are not at that scale, theyโre still significant, driven by big names like Pixar, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla and TikTok. It remains to be seen if this yearโs layoff trends follow last yearโs, in which layoffs slowed down in the summer, before cuts began ramping up yet again toward the winter.
